“Genius” TV Show Review

With National Geographic now broadcasting its first drama series, there is no one better to make the series about than the Nobel Peace Prize winning physicist, Albert Einstein.
The new show, “Genius,” tackles the professor’s life piece by piece and jumps back and forth between his life as a struggling university student, to his more successful days as a physics professor at Princeton University.
The show was originally inspired by the book “Einstein: His Life and Universe” by Walter Isaacson. Both speak volumes about how Albert Einstein struggles with his career and love life, with having a child and getting married while bouncing between teaching jobs around the country. Though the life of Einstein is already well known, “Genius” demonstrates his life as a brand new and compelling story.
There are also references to the rise of Fascism and how Adolf Hitler was slowly coming into power. With Einstein being of Jewish descent, the events following World War 2 directly affected his personal life residing in Germany and even how his research and life’s work was tampered with.
The series has introduced the side of Einstein that was only shown through letters in his younger days. He was a nonconformist that only wanted to see the world like no one has. The uncanny cast, historically accurate clothing and events and the intuitive script are just some of the things that haven’t even scratched the surface of the enlightening story.
