FHN seniors annually have ended spirit week with a toga day, but this year, due to scheduling conflicts, they will kick spirit week off with toga day.

“I’m excited for toga day, so the seniors can show off,” senior Hannah Spain said. “It’s fun to dress up because we stand out from the others.”

On Sept. 15, all seniors are invited to wear togas to school. Traditionally, students would finish spirit week by wearing togas. Although, because of the teacher meetings or PD day, things had to be switched. This is the first year students have the opportunity to wear togas on a different day because of scheduling. Citizens throughout the years of the early Roman Empire wore togas as a sign of royalty and high responsibility among others. Toga day is a fun day for seniors to show themselves off and it mirrors this early Roman idea.

“I think it will be nice having toga day earlier this year, because it gives us more time to prepare for it,” senior Maddie Oswald said. “Having Toga Day is fun because it’s something we as seniors get to do to stand out.”
