The Knights Look to Defeat the Vikings for the First Time in Nine Years
Published: September 14, 2017
The last time the Knights defeated the Vikings was when the first iPhone was coming out and became popular. The final score to that game was 34-24 in the 08-09 football season.
The quarterback for the Knights was Jake Schneider. He had 205 yards passing with 3 touchdown passes. Nick Dimarco was Schneider’s top receiver that game with 8 receptions and 185 total receiving yards.
Some of the players on the team this year believe that they have a chance of beating the Vikings this year.
“I believe if we come together as a team we could beat Howell,” junior Dillon Lauer said. “ If we make this a we game and not a me game then we will do just fine.”
Last year the Knights only had 138 total yards of offense against the Vikings. The final score to that game was 38-0 in favor of the Vikings.
“If we play as a team this year and play smart defensively we would do great,” sophomore Patrick Koester said.
Last year the Vikings literally ran all over the Knights with 287 yards rushing which was the reason the Knights lost that game since the conditions were rainy and receivers could not catch the ball as easily.
Over the past nine years the Knights have been outscored by the Vikings by a huge margin of 366-64 points throughout the losing streak. The Knights are hoping to break the streak tomorrow night on Sept. 15, 2017 at 7:00 p.m.
