Every school year, the St. Charles City-County Library does a new bookmark drawing contest. This year the third place winner was sophomore Phoebe Primeau.  The theme for the 2017 contest was “unleash.” Primeau along with three others won the bookmark contest and now their drawings will be displayed in every library around the area.

“I really like doing art and I love reading,” Primeau said. “Since I’m always at the library, I finally decided to enter the contest since I couldn’t last year.”

When Phoebe received the letter in the mail explaining her third place win, she was very excited. The third place prize was a $10 gift card to Target and the publishing of her bookmark design.

“When I received the letter in the mail, I was most excited that my art was going to be everywhere,” Primeau said. “I immediately showed the letter to my mom.”

The St. Charles City-County Library does this contest every school year. The bookmark design contest allows teens and young students to express and show off their art.

“I think it’s really inspiring that the library has this contest,” Primeau said. “It gives us a chance to be creative, and I was happy to be a part of that.
