Freshman Riley Parrott joined the cheer team for her first time this year. She joined the cheer team in July of this year. Before joining the cheer team, she participated in gymnastics for four years, played volleyball for five years and has also played basketball for three years. She then decided to join the cheer team and try it out.

“It’s something I wanted to do for a while,” Parrott said.

It was easy for Parrott to transition into the cheer team, because it was very similar to her gymnastics training, which for her made the transition very easy. Parrott is on the Junior Varsity, or JV, cheer team and enjoys it very much. She moved from St. Peter’s Catholic School, which was a much smaller school than ours, to FHN.

“I moved from a school with only 106 students to a school with 2000 students,” Parrott said.

Parrott has made a few new friends since moving here, and her teammates have been very encouraging and supportive of her. Her teammates have been helping her out through her transition and guiding her when she needs help. Her coach has also has helped her improve during practice. Parrott has been practicing a lot to improve her skills and technique. Her goal is to improve herself and make it on the Varsity cheer team.

“My most memorable thing about cheer was our first away football game, I had so much fun at the game,” Parrott said.
