Q: What weight class are you in?
A: I’m in the 152 lb. weight class, but I plan on going higher.
Q: How long have you been wrestling?
A: I’ve been wrestling since my freshman year of high school.
Q: Why did you decide to wrestle?
A: My friends got me into it, and I thought it might be fun, so I tried it, and I started to fall in love with it.
Q: How would you describe your wrestling style?
A: My style is attack first. Don’t wait on what your opponents going to do, go ahead and attack.
Q: How has this season gone for you so far?
A: It’s been kind of interesting. I started off the season not so good, but I started picking it up, and I started winning matches.
Q: What has been your favorite moment so far this season?
A: My favorite moment was me actually winning my first varsity match against Howell Central.
Q: What do you hope to do before the season ends?
A: I hope to make it to at least make it to state by going out, working hard, doing the best I can do, and leaving it all on the mat.
Q: What or who motivates you the most during wrestling?
A: I think the person who motivates me the most is Dillon Lauer. I watch him a lot, and he really got me into wrestling, and he’s always there to cheer me on during my matches.
Q: How has living in a different county affected your sports and school life?
A: It doesn’t really affect me at all. I’m a people person, and I like to do what I like to do.
Joanna Dohrman
Q: How long have you been swimming?
A: I’ve been swimming for five to six years.
Q: Why did you decide to swim competitively?
A: My brother started swimming, so I decided to swim with him.
Q: What events do you like to swim?
A: I like to swim the 500m freestyle and the 100m breaststroke.
Q: What has been your favorite moment so far this season?
A: My favorite moment is probably competing in the Fort Zumwalt North Invitational. I just had a good meet with the team.
Q: When you qualified for state in the first meet, what were you feeling?
A: I was happy. I was just relieved to have gotten done with it fast.
Q: How have you been able to succeed even with the change in coaching?
A: It’s working out pretty well. The coach is doing a good job. It’s a lot to organize and figure out when you’re not used to it, and especially with the weighed time slot, to even want to keep going and just keeping up with everybody.
Q: How do you hope to improve before state?
A: I don’t have much time, but I just need to keep going to my high school practices and then my club practices, which help me out too.
