On Saturday, April 7 from 2-4 p.m.  there will be a ceremonial ribbon cutting for the Centennial Greenway Bridge. Located in the Heritage Museum and MoDOT Commuter Lots will be a parade, music, food and the celebratory ribbon cutting.

“The bridges in St. Charles are important because they provide a new connection for recreation and transportation to residents that had previously been separated by Highways 364 and 94,” said Seth Treptow, Communications Manager of Great Rivers Greenway. “This opens up a wealth of opportunities for people who might want to walk, ride their bike or just enjoy a bit of life outside.”

This bridge is being placed as a safe way for the community to walk, bike and run in the area. This bridge will bring people close to Laurel Park, Schaefer Park and Wapelhorst Park.

“With this bridge, we hope to connect together in the years to come, as we continue to grow our network of greenways,” Treptow said.

This bridge will benefit the community as a whole, and the ribbon cutting festivities are being held to show just that. The festivities are being held to celebrate the opening of this project, but also the community that it will bring together.

“I am very happy this bridge is being opened for our community,” community neighbor Michelle Schneider said. “I can now walk and exercise outside in a safe and fun way.”
