FHN Safety Update-False Alarm
Published: May 9, 2018
On Wednesday, May 9, FHN went on lockdown during sixth hour. The lockdown continued throughout sixth hour and ended during the passing period between sixth and seventh hour. The following message was released via email from FHN Head Principal Andy Downs.
Dear Parents and Staff,
This afternoon, Francis Howell North was briefly on an interior lockdown as the result of a panic alarm button that accidentally triggered. Local law enforcement immediately responded to the panic alarm and upon investigation, confirmed that there was no threat to student or staff safety.
We hold a variety of drills throughout the school year, to prepare for unexpected events. Because we practice drills regularly, our students and staff were prepared and responded appropriately. We are relieved that this was a false alarm, but we will always err on the side of caution when it comes to the safety of our students and staff.
Sincerely,
Andy Downs
Principal
