On Thursday Oct. 4, the FHN varsity softball team faced the Fort Zumwalt West Jaguars. The end score was 16-2 with the FZW Jaguars taking the win.

“They’re a really good team,” Sophomore Becka Brissette said. “The pitcher was throwing really fast and she was really good. They’re a talented team.”

Senior Julia Hanan hit a two-run homer to score FHN’s two runs of the game. She was a key player in the team’s effort. To follow in Hanan’s footsteps with her batting, the softball team plans on improving their offense for the remainder of the season. According to Brissette, being good hitters at home base is the key to their future success.

“We’re just going to play hard and attack hard at the base,” Brissette said. “Hopefully we get some hits.”

FHN’s next softball game will be against Liberty High School. The game is on Oct. 8 at 4:15 pm.
