On Jan. 30, FHN’s Knightline left for a trip to Orlando, Fl to compete at the ESPN Center for the Universal Dance Association (UDA) National Competition. The girls also enjoyed a few days at Disney before returning home on Feb. 5.
“All the work we had put in all year led up to this and it was stressful,” sophomore Larisa Petro said. “It was a once-in-a-lifetime experience.”
At the competition, Knightline competed in two rounds of Hip-Hop and made it to the semifinals. They also competed in one round of Jazz, not making it to the semifinals. Even though they didn’t place, they still had a fun time.
“My favorite part of Disney was when they opened up the Magic Kingdom for all of the dancers competing at nationals after hours,” Petro said. “I had never been to a Disney Park and it was all very new and exciting.”
The experience helped the girls improve their dance skills while also growing their friendships as a team.
“[I enjoyed] spending time with my friends in the park, and for the whole week!” sophomore Morgan Hanson said.
