Ready to walk on the red carpet, the most famous and talented figures of the movies are getting prepared for one of the most important events of February. Directors, actors and costume designers are all set for the ninety-first Oscar Ceremony, which is going to take place on Feb. 24 in Los Angeles, Ca. This year the Oscars will have no host after the controversy surrounding the Academy’s first pick, Kevin Hart.
Now, let’s break down the top three most buzzed about subjects of this years’ Oscars.
Lady Gaga:
Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, better known as Lady Gaga, is an American artist who started her career as a singer in 2008 and now is ready to walk on the red carpet of the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles after being nominated for the Best Actress Award. Gaga owes her success to the movie A Star Is Born, which gave her the opportunity to showcase her acting and vocal skills as the co-protagonist of the movie, Ally. Gaga portrayed a waitress and singer-songwriter. The rising actress also received a second nomination for the movies’ representative song “Shallow,” sung in a duet with the actor and director of the movie Bradley Cooper.
Rami Malek as the New Best Actor:
Portraying the music legend and frontman of the group Queen, Freddie Mercury, the American actor Rami Malek amazes the public with his impressive mocking skills of one of the cornerstones of rock music. Malek has been winning awards left and right for his role, being nominated approximately 25 times and winning eight of those awards, with two still pending. Thanks to this movie Malek received his first nomination for the Best Actor Oscar along with his first Oscar nomination ever.
Roma:
Released by the platform Netflix in 2018, Roma is a Spanish movie who made Oscars history for being the first foreign movie to receive a nomination and the first Netflix movie receiving a nomination for Best Picture. The outstanding nomination brought the Spanish feature to compete against one of the latest Disney/Marvel movies Black Panther for the Best Picture award.
