Missouri Botanical Garden Hosts Annual Orchid Show
Published: March 4, 2019
The Missouri Botanical Garden held its annual Orchid Show from Feb. 1 to March 2, for a once in a year opportunity. Vivid colors of a hundred different orchids were in full bloom in the Orthwein Floral Display Hall.
Specialty orchids greeted you before entering the sanctuary. Different varieties from around the world surrounded you in a calm and peaceful existence. Colorful blooms of oranges, yellows, purples and greens drew your eyes into the orchid and left the visitor mesmerized.
“I think it’s like walking into a magical land where brilliant orchids are blooming,” Orchid Show Attendee Jayne Reuer said. “It’s a vast change from the 50 inches of snow I left behind in South Dakota.”
Outside exhibits, including the Climatron and the Linnean House, were also open to the public. Inside the Climatron, a walkway filled with many plants found in rainforest were on display.
If you missed a chance to escape winter this year, the Missouri Botanical Garden hosts the Orchid Show yearly with admission starting at $14 adults, $6 St. Louis City/County resident and free admission for children ages 12 and under.
