Danielle Rampley Starts Coaching Girls Basketball
Published: December 8, 2019
Francis Howell North hall monitor Danielle Rampley is the new girl’s basketball coach this year, and she could not be more excited to pass on her knowledge to the girls. Rampley has had years of experience as a player including time in high school, two years as a junior in college, and at Missouri Baptist University. But of course, Rampley could not do it without the help of the assistant coach, Ron Lefcourt, and the JV coach, Antoinette Harlan. As usual, the games and practices will be held in the small and large gym where the girls will do drills and run to get ready for the games.
“I think coming in as an entirely new coaching staff and having to get to know the girls is one challenge, but I think it’s a good thing,” Rampley said. “Another challenge will be just them getting used to us and how we run the program.”
The girls playing this year are very excited about the new coach. After only four practices, sophomore Faith Todd already sees improvement in the team’s playing and thinks it will just keep getting better if the team continues to work hard. Todd’s favorite part about basketball is the fact that they are more of a family than a team and she believes that the new coach will help to bring them closer together.
“She is really nice and is a good addition to the basketball program,” Todd said.
Rampley is looking forward to not only helping the girls improve their technique, but also to build a relationship with them. She is looking forward to having a great season and getting to know the girls and building a community at FHN.
“I am hoping to gain good relationships with the girls and I hope that they can gain more than I will,” Rampley said. “I mean I coach basketball because I like the game but I coach more or less to help the girls outside of the sport.”
