Freshman Kendra Swope, number 15, runs down the field.

Freshman Kendra Swope is a girls lacrosse player who has put on quite the show this season. As of right now, Kendra is the 4th highest scorer in the state. Swope has recorded 58 goals and 17 assists during the 13 game season and doesn’t plan on stopping.

“At the beginning of the season I had a goal to score 50 goals,” Swope said.“At a home game last week, I surpassed that.”

This is quite the feat considering she is just a freshman and the Knights have struggled this season with a 1-12 record. However, Swope likes to focus on the positives even with the shaky season.

“I will never forget the girls on this team and how supportive everyone is to each other and how much fun we are always having,” she said.

One of Swope’s keys to success is her father.

“He has always been there to push me past my limits and encourage me to never give up,” Swope said.

This is Swope’s sixth year playing on a team, and her first for FHN. With Swope’s statistics, she’s someone to look forward to in the coming years for the girls lacrosse program.

“My coaches have had a huge impact on me, and without their encouragement, I would not be the player I am today,” Swope said. “I am looking forward to making many more memories at FHN in my upcoming years.”
