The Mock Trial Team will Compete in Regional Competitions on March 7 and 9
On March 7 and 9, the mock trial team will be going to the St. Louis County Courthouse where they will be competing against other schools at regionals.
“To win regionals I think we just need to practice all together,” Ng said. “We’ve been running through things in and out of school and memorization is gonna be really helpful for regionals.”
This case was given to them at the beginning of the school year in October. Ever since then, they’ve been practicing and meeting up with each other on Tuesdays and Thursdays for 90 minutes.
“We go through practice trials,” Ng said. “We’ve been going through them to better prepare us for what is gonna happen on the day of regionals.”
Memorization is a big thing in Mock Trial, lawyers must memorize their statements and examinations, while witnesses must memorize their depositions.
“The team has been very diligent in preparing for trail and we had pretty easy pairings for regionals, so I think it should be a fun and successful trial for us,” Mock Trail co-captain Ella Struble said
An arson case is what Ella Struble and Vanessa Ng are doing this year for Mock Trial. The case is about a person named Wynne Bryd who allegedly committed arson on a mansion. Struble’s role in the Mock Trial is a lawyer who presents closing arguments and Ng’s role in Mock trial is a witness who plays both an electrical engineer and . This case is preparing them for regionals that will take place at the St Louis County Courthouse.
