On Apr. 13, Brocksmith’s Biology II class dissected sea stars as a part of their Echinoderms unit. They are currently learning about the phylum Echinodermata which includes sea stars, sand dollars, sea cucumbers, sea urchins, and more. While dissecting sea stars, they were instructed to remove the pyloric cecum and the central disk and observe the mouth and internal structure of the sea star. They also identified if it was male or female, after removing the arms and examining the inside. (Photos by Etaf Abdallah and Hannah Button)
