Bob Brown is a Cafeteria Aid at North and Security in St. Louis
Bob Brown may be a familiar name to a few at North. Some may remember him as the former baseball coach who coached for 28 years and retired in 2021. Some may have seen him monitoring the cafeteria, watching for any signs of trouble. But he also leads a double life, one that takes him to St. Louis.
“At Enterprise, I do security at the different areas of the stadium,” Brown said. “At [Busch Stadium], I’m an usher but besides that, I do giveaways, promotions and the setup for all the barriers around the stadium before the game.”
A friend of Brown’s worked at Busch Stadium and told Brown that they were hiring. He applied for a job at Busch Stadium and at the Enterprise Center and was selected for both jobs. While he’s only been in those positions since September, he has been able to see a variety of events, performances and concerts.
“[At Enterprise], we’ve had Ice Capades, Disney on Ice as well as Blues games,” Brown said. “We also did PBR, Professional Bull Riders, and different concerts like the Eagles.”
Brown’s job often consists of helping out around the stadiums and with guests who experience slips and falls, but it can also consist of dealing with intoxicated guests or rowdy patrons.
“Well Saturday, April 15, we had the tornado warning so we had to cover inside the ‘bowl’,” Brown said. “Everybody from the concert was in there, it was a New Edition concert.”
While getting to see and experience many new acts, events and performances can be exciting, Brown’s roots at North have brought him back as a cafeteria aid.
“Well they needed some help, and I only live five minutes away,” Brown said. “It gives me something to do during the day. And I get to see people who I worked with for all those years, I can continue that relationship.”
