As the last year of the original Francis Howell North building, the school has seen many lives, and many stories. To allow Alumni to reminisce on the school one last time, there will be an Alumni Homecoming all around the building on Oct. 7 from 9 a.m. to noon.
‘I had talked to Mr. Fletcher last year because I knew that people were feeling sort of nostalgic about the building not being here and being torn down and so I asked him if we could plan some sort of building walk-through,” event sponsor Jordyn Kiel said.
Kiel was the Homecoming Queen for the class of 2009, so helping host Alumni events such as this is something she greatly enjoys. Kiel hopes to host an event where all alumni can enjoy themselves and take a trip down memory lane one last time.
“I am so excited as somebody who is helping lead the event,” Kiel said. “I am a little bit nervous just because I know people are really dissipating this and are very excited for it. So, I just want to make sure that we’re providing the space for them to celebrate and feel nostalgic and be together. I’m excited to be part of this, because so much of my growing up years happened here. And it’s really fun to reminisce on those relationships and experiences in that time of life.”
There will be four guest speakers in the commons, one of whom is Gavin Swart, a junior nominated to speak about expectations of the new school from a student’s perspective.
“The alumni event is getting a lot of people, so it’s gonna be a whole lotta fun because there’s gonna be people coming from all over just us to take one last look at school before it goes up in flames,” Swart said.
