Jessica Sanchez shows off nails as she continues to chase her dreams in cosmetology.

English:

Coming from Mexico in 2021, Jessica Sánchez has worked at North serving lunch to students. Before she got to the U.S, Sánchez worked in Mexico for six years as a nail technician and has continued the two years she has been here.

“I always had nails that were done and pretty calling my attention and so I started to take courses for my own nails,” Sánchez said.

Sánchez worked hard to learn how to do nails and was able to make it her main job in Mexico. She realized the difference in styles between countries, such as the base of the nails, and has learned to adapt while keeping up with changing trends.

“Each day there are new techniques and every person has a different way,” Sánchez said.

Now being a part of FHN has forced Sánchez  to be focused on things other than her dream job.

“Now here in this country it’s like my hobby, like my second job but in Mexico it was my job, what I was dedicated to 100 percent,” Sánchez said.

Changing her attention doesn’t mean that she doesn’t want or is leaving her dream. Sánchez is pushing to keep her skills flawless as she still takes appointments on weekends and after school hours at her home. She is also working hard to save money to go to school and get her license to do nails in the U.S.

“I would like to take courses so I can get my license,” Sánchez said. “And at some point open my own business with nails and what better than to only work in that.”
