FHN varsity baseball takes on the Troy Buchanan Trojans Tue and Wed, April 16 and 17. The last game for the Knights saw them taking a victory 6-1 against Fort Zumwalt North. The Knights are coming into the game with a record of 5-11 and the Trojans are coming into the game with a record of 6-10. With a game that looks to be evenly matched on paper, the game could come down to the pitching matchups.
“These past couple conference games, we really started coming alive a little more,” Pitcher Carter Stover said.
In conference play this year, the Knights hold a record of 1-3 and are looking to get back to .500 in this two-game series. Inside their conference, FHN sits near the middle of the pack, with teams like Fort Zumwalt West (17-5), Francis Howell (16-5) leading the way.
“I feel like this season we’ve fallen short of our expectations a little bit,” Stover said, “I think as we look at the rest of our schedule, we can definitely get back on track.”
The starting pitchers for both games will be Mason Mitchell and Carter Stover, Stover leads the Knights in K’s and has the lowest ERA on the team. Offensively, the Knights are led by third baseman Carson Howard, who is hitting for a .349 average and leads the team with 15 hits on the year. The Trojans are led by Lance Stulky, who also leads his team with a .317 batting average and 13 hits on the year.
