The boys volleyball team had a successful season going 16-17-2. They had some big wins over St. Dominic on April 30 going to five sets and Francis Howell on April 4.
“Every set we went into we were always down in points,” outside hitter Sam Fitzsimmons (11) said. “We won because we were mentally tough and played every point to our hardest.”
The boys volleyball team participated in several tournaments throughout the season such as a Francis Howell Central tournament on March 23, a Fort Zumwalt South tournament on April 13 and a Lafayette tournament April 26-27.
“The Lafayette tournament was my favorite because we played a lot of good teams and it made us stronger,” setter Luke Hollinger (10) said. “Overall I think it prepared us for districts.”
The team ended their season on May 9 with a loss to Francis Howell in the second round of districts. The Knights started off strong taking the first two sets but ended up falling short with a final score of 12-15 in the fifth set.
“We couldn’t string together points and pull away,” libero Alex Williams (11) said. “We couldn’t win the important points when it really mattered, but we still fought hard.”
The team is going to lose 7 seniors overall, with only one committing to play volleyball in college.
“The thing I’m gonna miss most is playing with my teammates that I’m really close with and coaches that always strive for me to get better,” right side hitter Sam Reimer (12) said. “I’m also gonna miss playing in the school and all the friendships I’ve made the last four years.”
