The boys golf team is taking a wrap and ending the season off strong. They have had some changes throughout the season with a new coach Nikki Brinkman stepping in. Brinkman helped the program and made a positive impact on the players according to junior Bryce Renz.
“She brings good energy and a positive mindset that helps our team when we need it most,” Renz said. “She’s always there to compliment and chat with us and is always there to help.”
The FHN golf season ended on Tuesday, May 14th with a record of 6-2 for the regular season. Renz and Jay Choi (11) continued their season even further and qualified for state. Renz earned 25th out of 100 at state and Choi placed 91st out of 100. The team put a lot of hard work into their season, and they did a good job of stepping up and helping one another. Coach Brinkman feels very positive about how the season went.
“The boys have done a great job this season,” Brinkman said. “We have some wonderful boys that really have stepped up and have helped provide a lot of leadership for the team.”
According to players, Coach Brinkman has been a huge part of the successful season. She has been able to help the players and give them great advice to strive for their best and end with a strong season.
“She’s been great for me, when I hit some bad shots she’s always giving me advice on how to stay calm and move on which has helped me a ton,” Jackson McGowen said.
They will be losing five seniors this season including McGowen, Andrew Lee, JT Grabowski, Owen Miller, and Connor Neu.
