The FHN girls varsity volleyball team is wanting to not dwell on challenges this year and would like to focus on aspirations more than obstacles.
“I wouldn’t say that we’re looking forward to any certain game this season and are more looking to reach our goal of working, molding and growing together as a team,” senior Miriam Lichty said.
While having the team’s three defense specialists graduating last year, it definitely took a hit on the team, however, they are not letting that demotivate them. They plan on using this to progress, and hope to find their balance on and off the court together.
“ I think this season we will focus on winning more games, but mostly finding a consistent flow when in game,” Lichty, who is a defensive specialist, said.
The team has some key returning players including senior Kennedy Jones who committed to play D1 last season for Alabama and has already broken school records during her time playing for FHN.
“Kennedy is definitely an important key returning player,” junior Jaden Slusser said.
The girls are starting the season off with a tournament at Visitation Academy on Aug, 31. A game the girls will be looking forward to is playing Francis Howell, looking for redemption after the losses last season.
“As a sophomore who played varsity as a freshman, I love the opportunity to play people up to ages 18 and the experience it’s given me,” Slusser said. “I can’t wait to see where our team makes it this season.”
