In the 2023 season the Francis Howell North Knights boys soccer team had a season to remember. They broke the record for best start in program history and regained the conference title. But this season will write a whole different story as the Knights lost a total of 11 seniors, one being their leading goal scorer JT Garbowski. The boys team has also lost both of their coaches that they’ve had for 10 plus years. There will be lots of change for the Knights this season with many challenges to come.
“It’s going to make this season even better because of what we have to overcome,” Senior Mason Clark said.
This will be Mason’s second year on varsity, and he looks to take on a big role this season. The Knights finished with a record of 14-5 last season as their season was cut short with a heartbreaking loss to John Burroughs falling 1-0 in the second round of districts.
“That loss just makes me wanna get back there even more,” Logan Hendricks said.
The Knights will face some challenges this season as players like Mason Clark and Logan Hendricks look to lead the team. A positive side for the Knights is that they do have some talented players returning as they have three freshmen returning as sophomores this year; Wyatt Voelkerding, Logan Grygiel and Alan Nguyen. With a lot of changes, the Knights look to keep upbeat and have a successful season.
“I think us three can make a strong Impact on this season with the experience we gained from last season and all of us improving.”
