Monday Oct. 7, Varsity softball faced Liberty High School on the FHN softball fields. Before the game started, they held their 2024 Senior night ceremony for the graduating players Nina Hewlett, Teagan Lee, and Piper Spinaio. “I’ll miss them all,” Coach Jessie Stewart said, “Especially Nina, she’s been on varsity since her freshman year. She was there for the baseball season as a manager too, so I got to bond with her a little more.” After the formalities, the game started off slow for both teams. Liberty was the first to score at the bottom of the 5th taking the lead 3-0, but just until the top of the 5th when Hewlett hit a 2-run home run tying the score board 3-3.Overall, Liberty ended up scoring one last run in the 7th inning making the final score 4-3. “We didn’t play our best defensively,” Stewart said when asked about his thoughts on the game. “Once we cut down on our errors it will be better.”(Photos by Mallory Barker, Taylor Griffin and Austin Griffin) .
