Being one of the highest rated shows on Netflix, the stakes for the new season of Outer Banks are high. The show has won 4 MTV awards and has been nominated for 13 more, but some fans are concerned about which direction the plot will go in Season 4. Still, excitement levels and predictions are through the roof.
“I’m hoping to see a drastic change of sides or something like that,” freshmen Outer Banks enthusiast Rani Weidner said. “I feel like the viewpoints of all the characters in the show are completely different now, I want something to play on those.”
A big part of what has kept Outer Banks relevant with fans is its compelling cast. In the new season, fans are hoping to see the characters undergo hardships and complex developments.
“The personalities for the characters are incredibly different as when it started, it’s not just as simple as Pogues v. Kooks anymore, so I’m hoping to see some overlap,” Weidner said. “In the new season, the characters are going to be in a much different environment than they were previously, so I’m thinking they’ll show the characters under new pressure in a new lifestyle.”
The beachy, treasure-hunting theme of the first season is what really drew new watchers in. From what has been announced so far, it seems like the writers are sensibly choosing to stick with the same storyline as the past few seasons. Long-time fans are wondering how directors can keep the same concept without it getting old.
“I’m nervous for the new season,” Weidner said. “I hope the entire feeling of the show will change.”
Even if this season is not the last, it will surely be one to remember. The group of teenagers that work together to find treasure will inspire young watchers to go on adventures with their own close friends.
“The base idea that it’s a group of teenagers working together to uncover a mystery is really cool. I like tight knit things,” Weidner said. “I feel like it almost made me more social and want to do more with my own friends.”
