There are many clubs at FHN that do many different activities, there is even one where people do trivia competitions.
“Scholar bowl is basically trivia, we split into two teams but we at FHN make up one team. It’s answering general trivia stuff we learn at school and also it could be about random things like Taylor Swift and events,” said Daiyan Hassan, a junior at FHN.
Scholar Bowl members meet and they answer many trivia questions to prepare for them up and coming competitions.
“We print previous questions from previous years’ cause [at competitions] you always have a toss up and three bonus [questions]. We go through 20 toss up questions and all of the bonus questions,” Anne Ledbetter, the sponsor of Scholar Bowl said.
FHN Scholar Bowl members and many different schools around the area go and compete against each other at these competitions.
“[The competitions] are more about knowledge. A general knowledge competition,” Ledbetter said.
“We go to different competitions in Saint Charles and Saint Louis mostly. We compete against other teams and we try to win those rounds [of trivia]. Last year we did pretty good. We got 6th at GAC’s,” Hassan said.
It may sound stressful to hear about the competitions but it’s nothing to worry about when you’re first joining.
“[Competitions] start the second half of the year, so they start in second semester,” Ledbetter said.
Scholar bowl is for everyone who enjoys trivia but even people who aren’t great at things like that are still welcomed.
“It’s not just about trivia, It’s more like a community,” Hassan said.
If people are interested in joining, contact the leader of Scholar bowl, Gavin Swart or the sponsor, Anne Ledbetter.
The Scholar Bowl club has already started for the year but they are still taking on people who would like to join. They meet every Tuesday after school in room 2015.
