“It Ends With Us” is a book written by Colleen Hoover on August 2, 2016. This book took over the internet like a storm and has gained a lot of popularity over the years. “It Ends With Us” is a romance book that follows 23 year old college graduate Lily Bloom who recently moved to Boston from Maine. As she gets used to the new city and lifestyle, she opens her own flower shop. Lily meets Ryle Kincaid and after many ups and downs they fall in love. But soon, their relationship starts to develop challenges, such as violence and domestic abuse. 

“I thought it was a really good story and it had a really good meaning,” sophomore Mia Sanders said.

This book’s increase in popularity developed into fans wanting a movie based on it. Soon enough, the “It Ends With Us” movie was released August 9, 2024 directed by Justin Baldoni. Starring familiar actors Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni, this movie immediately attracted a lot of attention. 

The “It Ends With Us” movie had many different mixed reviews. Readers of the book were expecting main character Lily Bloom to have amazing outfits in the movie based on her fashion sense, but were disappointed with her styling. While her clothes reflected her vibrant personality, fans didn’t take Lily’s outfits seriously which caused some controversy around the movie. The movie wasn’t the only thing people were talking about, but the book was stirring up some more dispute. The “It Ends With Us” book seemed to be glorifying domestic abuse and violence, creating an uncomfortable outlook on Ryle and Lily’s relationship.

“I thought it was very real,” sophomore Anna Archibald said. “I think the characters were very well casted and it is a real life thing. The characters portrayed it very well and spread awareness.”
