On November 14th, 15th, and 16th, FHN’s Masqued players will be performing their rendition of the 1979 classic musical Grease. Tickets can be pre-ordered for $12 by scanning any one of the flyers found in the hallways. Otherwise, tickets will be sold at the door for $15.
This will be the first production done by the drama club in the new building, which brings many new challenges for the masqued players. Vice President and Stage Manager of the drama club, Kat Burrows, speaks on the pros and cons of the new stage.
“With our new building we have to learn everything over again; the same rules do not apply,” said Burrows. “We have to figure out what rules we have, how the lights work, and how the sound board works. At the old building we didn’t even have a sound board. There are a lot more technical elements compared to previous shows. On the other hand, we have a lot more space to expand, and everything has to be doubled in size. If we took the sets from previous years they would look miniature on the new stage.”
Many veteran senior and Junior FHN thespians will return to star in this production, but a fresh new batch of talent from the drama club’s freshman and sophomores will be hitting the stage as well.
“We have a lot of strong musicians, and the music isn’t super difficult, so it’s going well,” said Lauren Miles, co-director of music on Grease. “There was a little trouble putting the music with the dancing at first, but it’s all turning out good”
Grease: the Musical will be the largest theater production that FHN has ever done, so make sure you don’t miss this fantastic show from November 14th-16th.
