On Nov. 12, Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) from schools in the area attended the Fall Leadership Conference (FLC) at Bowlero. Unlike FBLA’s competitions, the conference was an introduction to what district, state and national competition would look like.
“I would say it was a great opportunity for other kids from different schools to network and kind of talk to each other and get different opinions and views on FBLA,” business teacher and FBLA sponsor at FHN, Landon Strayhorn said.
Dressed in FBLA or FHN shirts instead of the usual formal business attire, 24 North students along with two sponsors attended the FLC. Starting at 9:30 a.m. was an hour of guest speakers in four presentations.
“The first one was just talking about the different competitions that we can participate in [at districts],” FBLA member, Jack Rudden said. “The second one that we went to was for resume building, [the] third one was about accounting and the fourth one was about human relations.”
To end the conference, there were two hours of game time that included bowling, laser tag and an arcade.
“It was a great time,” Strayhorn said. “It was cool to see the kids interact with other schools and represent Howell North in a, hopefully, respectful manner.”
