It is that time of the quarter where parent teacher conferences are held. During parent teacher conferences, parents come into Francis Howell North and meet with their child’s teachers or they can meet with the teacher online using Zoom. The teacher will go over your grades, participation, and how you are doing in their class. This is the time where the teacher can give any specific feedback they have.
“I like to give positive feedback, I look at the positive side of things, how kids are doing in class, if they are having fun, interacting with their peers, if they are respectful, and I like to show them their different projects they have been working on,” intro to business teacher Abigail Davis said. “I also go over grades and go over tests, so I talk about what they are doing in class.”
The first parent teacher conference was held on September 18, from 4pm – 7:30pm, and more recently there was a parent teacher conference held on November 14, from 4pm – 7:30pm. Teachers recommend for parents to attend these conferences because it is a chance for parents to understand how their child is doing in class. It also serves as an opportunity for
the student to turn in their missing work, or improve their participation and grade based on their teacher’s feedback. This can help the student become more responsible and successful in keeping their grades up.
“I always say to parents 15 minutes of work everyday is essential to learn vocabulary and grammar for the week. I am very honest, I tell the parents if students aren’t paying attention,” Spanish teacher Antonia Perez-Franco said. “I think it is very important to be honest and to recognize that nothing is written in stone, everything can change, and the student has the full responsibility.”
