The FHN girls golf team went 3-7 in the 2024-25 season. Junior Addyson Brennerand and senior Alyssa Perkins were the top players this year on the team and did well in all of their matches. Brenner and Perkins fought for the first-place golfer all season and continued to push each other. Brenner especially worked hard to improve this season and worked on her personal improvement.
“Me and Alyssa did really good in the matches and tournaments,” Brenner said. “As for me, I improved on my mental game and my driver which was really helpful for me to do this season.”
The team won three matches this year with their season being cut short in the first round of districts on Oct. 9. Perkins thought that the team chemistry this year was really good and even though the outcome of the season wasn’t ideal, the team chemistry created a positive environment for all of the players.
“The team chemistry this year was great, we started off the season with team bonding and it really helped form genuine friendships,” Perkins said. “Everybody was super supportive and positive.”
Unlike last year where Perkins made it to state, no girls made it to state this year, but the girls worked hard all season to improve and have a successful next season hoping to send more players to state. Coach Nikki Brinkman feels the season went very well and felt that the girls worked hard. Although the result was disappointing, Brinkman is excited for next season and to grow even more.
“I am excited to see our girls come back and continue to get better,” Brinkman said. “We will be losing two seniors in our program, which will cause some shifting in our line up next year.”
The team will be losing two seniors following this season. Perkins and teammate Rachel Bruemmer will be graduating, leaving vacancies in the program.
