At FHN, a new club has recently formed. With pickleball’s popularity quickly growing all over the country, a few FHN students decided pickleball would be a great addition to FHN’s traditions.
“It’s something that not a lot of schools have ever done before, and something that our school has definitely not done before and I love playing pickleball,” competition director Max Fitzsimmons said. “It’s just something that is in common with everybody who helped start it.”
This all started with casual friend hangouts, playing pickleball, when Fitzsimmons and other officers of the club decided this could be something more.
“We just wanted to play pickleball and do more with it, so we thought that it would be cool to share that experience with everybody,” Fitzsimmons said.
Connor Harman, a sophomore at FHN, recently placed third place in the club’s first tournament.
“It’s a really fun sport that doesn’t take much skill to be good at, winning the last tournament made me really excited for what’s to come,” said Harman.
Everyone involved in the club have quickly become intrigued by this new opportunity.
“It’s fun,” Fitzsimmons said. “It’s competitive, It’s everything for all kinds of people. It’s good exercise, It’s great for people who just want to play pickleball for fun.
