Walking into the robotics room, many can feel the confidence of everyone in it. President of the robotics club, Alex Prudhomme is ready and confident in the abilities of this year’s freshmen. Although they have a lot of learning to do. Prudhomme is ready to teach them the necessary skills.
The game will be a challenge but the team is already making the robot. It will have a square chaise with omni wheels on either side and will most likely have two upright linear actuators coming out from the base. It will also have one linear actuator between those two.
“Into the Deep consists of a big aluminum cage mechanism in the middle of the field with two goals with two baskets on opposite sides,” Prudhomme said. “The goal is to put rectangle blocks, putting them in baskets or on poles for points.”
Prudhomme is ready to teach members the necessary skills to win the tournament. They will be taught how to build the robot, how to program it, and more.
“Prior skills aren’t needed because we teach them,” Prudhomme said.
Apoorva Sharon, a member of robotics, is ready to learn the skills necessary to win the tournament, but he is still new himself.
“I’m not even sure, we haven’t made much progress with the robot, I’m still new so I don’t really know that,” Sharon said.
The robotics team needs control of their robot, and Sharon wants to help with that.
“I think I’m gonna be a programmer, they basically control the whole robot,” Sharon said.
