Ever wanted to play a high school sport, but just when you decide to give it a chance, you find out that the deadline for signup paperwork has already passed? Here’s how to make sure that doesn’t happen again!
Meeting
Most activities at FHN will host an informational meeting, you can find out where and when during morning announcements. At the meeting teacher sponsors and senior players will usually inform you of any case by case basis materials you would need, like cleats, bats, gloves, ect. But the most important things are needed regardless of your sport.
Impact Testing
Firstly, you need to complete impact testing. Impact testing dates can be found here, and a passed test is valid for two years. Impact testing takes place on campus and all you have to do is sign up and show up.
Physical
Next, you will need to get a physical done with your doctor. This would usually take place anyway, so all you need to do is make sure to get your records. Most physicals get done at annual appointments, and if you don’t have one you cannot play until you get one.
Packet
Now you need to get the signup packet, Available at Mrs. Kerns office next to the large gym, or online on the FHN activities website at https://fhnhs.rschoolteams.com/, through the activity registration link. After logging in and entering the required information you will be prompted to attach your successful completion of impact testing and your physical, as well as medical records. This is due a week before the first week of tryouts, and in physical forms must be returned to Mrs. Kerns. Online forms can be submitted through the FHN Activities website.
Education Requirements
Once you receive an email informing you that your forms have been processed, you are good to go! All you have to do is show up to your team’s tryouts and do your best! Sports with off campus practice fields will have a bus, you will be informed of locations and bus numbers by your coaches or school sponsors. Please remember that in order to participate in sports you must pass 6 classes in the previous semester, earn a 1.5 or greater GPA the previous semester, be enrolled in at least 6 credit classes, not have any outstanding fines or fees and you cannot have been assigned in-school or out-of-school suspension.
