On Thursday Jan. 23, Building Principal Jeffrey Fletcher informed the FHN staff via email about him resigning at the end of the year to take on the new role of executive director of the HR department in the Fort Zumwalt district.
“My kids go to school in Fort Zumwalt so it allows me to be on the same schedule as them,” Fletcher said. “It allows me to work in the HR field, which over the years of being an administrator is something that I have taken an interest to, and that’s pretty exciting and this has all happened pretty recently in the last couple of weeks.”
During the two and a half years Fletcher has been with FHN, he’s helped make the community and culture of this building stronger and more positive everyday. He’s made North a place everyone should be proud to call home.
“I was just heartbroken [to hear the news], he’s been a wonderful boss,” Cara McHaffie, Fletcher’s assistant said. “He cares so much for the students and staff in this building, there’s nothing he wouldn’t do for anybody.”
Staff and students are sad to see him go, but at the same time everyone’s very proud of him for his accomplishments and his lasting impacts on the school.
“We are proud of him for getting this position, and we are thankful for the time he was able to give us,” McHaffie said. “Setting us on a new path in a new building and helping us through that transition, we will always be grateful for that.”
Doing great work, while maintaining a good and happy persona is important but it’s not always easy and he seemed to manage it, transitioning around around 2,000 students and staff from old North to new North with complications and pretty much going in blind.
“I hope I have just continued to help foster a positive, welcoming, fun and overall great environment for kids and teachers to come to everyday,” Fletcher said.
