Junior varsity boys basketball take on FZW on Jan. 27, in the FHN large gym. “At the beginning of the game I felt very confident, but knowing two of our main guys were out, I knew I had to step up for my team.” Logan Vollmer said. Both teams went back and forth with taking the lead in the first and second half of the game. The Knights had strong defense and solid offense by FZW. By half-time, the Jaguars took the lead 23 – 21. In the third quarter, the knights had once again taken the lead with layups by Charlie Mock and Kane Manfull. FZW wasn’t too far behind and regained their points. With only 30 seconds remaining in the game and the Knights trailing FZW 47-44, Vollmer stepped up and made a three-pointer, bringing the score to a tie. “I felt very relieved from the pressure knowing I helped my team when we were down.” Vollmer said when asked about his game changing 3-pointer. Finally with 10 seconds left, sophomore Evan Hunter scored a game winning layup. The Knights won 49 – 47. (Photos by Mallory Barker and Jose De La Pez)
