Snowcoming is about “take-off” on its first orbit in the new FHN building this Saturday. While many things are being taken as inspiration from previous Snocomings and the 2024 Homecoming, it is set to be bigger and better than ever.
“It’s not really too different for us for Snowcoming, it’s still neon,” senior STUCO member Rishitha Vedanaparthi said.“But this year we made it to be out of this world which is different than the last years.”
The dance will carry on the same neon look from the last two years, this year’s theme will be “Cosmic Knights” bringing a whole new celestial aesthetic to the plate. The dance will be decorated in a new creative way from hanging planets from the ceilings to neon streamers scattered about.
“We have a lot of props and stuff that’s fun to use, it’s different from Homecoming because it’s more chill and laid back but I feel like the decorations and stuff will match the entire theme,” Vedanaparthi said.
The same general rules will apply to this dance that previous dances have enforced, however with the UV lights to make the decor pop guests have been told to refrain from wearing any white dresses to make sure there’s no wardrobe malfunctions.
“Because of those UV lights the thing about it is if your dress isn’t a thick material and it’s white it will be see-through,” STUCO co-sponsor Pugh said. “We just want to protect you.”
The dance will also provide food for anyone who gets peckish on the dance floor. Food provided will include out-of-this-world themed charcuterie boards, along with water and other common soft drinks. They have even upped their supply of beverages to supply guests’ thirst.
“It will be like charcuterie boards with fruit, cheesecake and cosmic brownies,” Pugh said. “Drinks are the same, just some more soda and water. There’s more drinks than in Homecoming because we realized last year and in previous dances the food was always in a different location so people didn’t really come walk over as much. But at this year’s Homecoming it was totally gone.”
It’s evident that many things have been workshopped for Snowco to improve even further after a successful Homecoming dance that took place previously this year. From new decor to fancy new food it’s safe to say that this Snoco will be a blast-off.
“We’re going bigger this year and hoping it’s big enough to fill the space, but if not, we’ll just keep going bigger,” Pugh said.
