After the end of this school year, Principal Jeffrey Fletcher will be parting ways with Francis Howell North. Beginning his work at FHN nearly a decade ago as an assistant principal, Fletcher has served as building principal for three years. Fletcher has played a major role in the day-to-day operations of the building, notably overseeing the move from the old building to the new one. After leaving FHN, Fletcher will take up the position of executive director of HR at Fort Zumwalt School District.
“I’ll be working with hiring, recruiting, all the fun and things that go along with human resources,” Fletcher said.
Naturally, with Fletcher’s departure, the search for a new principal to fill his role has been underway. After many interviews and screenings, the school board has selected Jon Schultz to serve as the new building principal. Though he is uninvolved in the actual process of selection, Fletcher has met with Schultz on several occasions as he becomes acquainted with the staff of his new workplace.
“Yes, he’s a nice guy,” Fletcher said. “Very intelligent, very personable, approachable. And I think he’ll be a really good leader for Francis Howell North.”
Jon Schultz has actually worked for FHN previously, serving as the dean of students from 2006-2008. The building has changed a fair bit since then, but Schultz has spent lots of time getting acclimated with his soon-to-be co-workers ensuring his arrival is as smooth as possible. Schultz has many years of experience as a principal, and with such experience comes a real passion for ensuring the students he oversees are reaching their full potential.
“For me it’s all about the kids,” Schultz said. “Seeing them go from freshman that don’t really know what they want to seeing them at graduation.”
