On Thursday, April 24, the Girls Varsity Soccer Team faced off against the Fort Zumwalt East Lions. The game began after the senior night festivities. The team consists of five seniors, Mady Brewer, Addie Butler, Faith Fuller, Shalini Sharma and Kate Vernon. Each senior was accompanied by their parents as they walked down the field and received flowers and a gift basket from their teammates. The game began after the playing of the national anthem and the starting lineup was announced. The first half started off slow until about halfway through sophomore Lexi Lohnes scored a goal. The rest of the half remained scoreless for both teams. Entering the second half, the score still lies at 1-0 with the Knights in the lead. The Lions picked up a goal halfway through the second half. At the end of the given 90 minutes, the game was still tied 1-1, leading the teams into overtime. After the first round of overtime was over, the score remained tied. The game continued into double overtime, where senior Shalini Sharma scored a goal that ended the game. The final score was 2-1 with the Knights taking the win. (Photos By: Taylor Griffin)
