Whether you prefer basic vanilla or triple chocolate, these ice cream places have got it all. Here’s a look into peoples’ favorite ice cream places to visit over the summer.
SNOW FACTORY
Located in Mid Rivers Mall, Snow Factory specializes in rolled ice cream.
“It’s a lot of fun to see it being made,” sophomore Nayana Kartha said. “My go-to order is mango ice cream with lychees, caramel and mochi on top. It’s better than other places because it gives you a unique experience and it offers rolled ice cream. Also, they have something called Dragon’s Breath, which is really cool.”
ANDY’S FROZEN CUSTARD
Originating in Osage Beach, Missouri, Andy’s offers quick-service frozen custard.
“I think they have a really unique ice cream selection and you can get lots of toppings in them,” junior Moya Jefferson said. “My go-to order would be the triple chocolate concrete. I think they’re better because you can get bigger sizes and someone like me who loves chocolate can get an order with a ton of what you like in it.”
TED DREWES
Their business focuses on quality as well as hospitality, but many like it for the custard.
“It’s better because they have so many more flavors, it’s local to St. Louis, and they have a museum,” sophomore Morgan Conlon said.
BEN & JERRY’S
Often standing out because of their wide variety of flavors and packed in toppings, Ben & Jerry’s also prides themselves on their mission. The thought they place into the ingredients they use and their environmental impact is unparalleled compared to other ice cream places.
“Their cookie dough ice cream has a lot of cookie dough, and that’s the only kind of ice cream I like,” sophomore Scarlett Fischer said. “It’s usually not packed, and even if it is, it goes through really quickly and everyone there is really nice.”
COLD STONE CREAMERY
While on the more expensive side, Cold Stone commits to making their ice cream right before your eyes with fresh, quality ingredients. You choose your flavor and toppings and they create it in front of you.
“I love that they make the ice cream in front of you,” librarian Gabrielle Weston said. “The setup gives it a small town bistro, more upscale type of feel. The ice cream feels richer.”
