Today, Aug. 28, the FHN football team is hosting their first home game of the season. Although North’s previous season records have not been ideal, the team is hoping to bring home a win to start off the season strong. Over the summer, the team trained hard for months on end, running drills and practices to make sure they got every play down to par. Within just a few scrimmages, the team has gained better communication and has seen a projected growth in skill.
“I’m fired up, super excited,” Will Crawford, a coach for the FHN Knights said. “I’m really positive about our outlook.”
New coaches Erick Webster, Matt Kliewer, Tyler Ball, Shaun Browder and Fred Friedman joined early this year. Coaches immediately got to work, earning respect from their players by showing immense amounts of effort to adapt to the team’s dynamic whilst learning how they can best encourage players as they hit the field.
“I think the coaches have really come together under coach Webster,” Crawford said. “Like, forming great bonds and friendships already.”
Much like the coaches, players too are getting hype for this new season. With noticeable improvements and a stronger dynamic, what the team needs now is an excited student body to start off the season right. The student section, located on the far left of the bleachers (when facing them) is exactly what it sounds like, the designated area for the school’s attendees to hype up the team and provide excitement.
“I love looking out at the crowd while I’m playing and seeing how excited the fans are,” Jacob Foster, center offensive lineman said. “It makes the adrenaline rush even better, and I feel like my performance improves.”
