Since 2010, Tyler Martin has been the owner of Emerge Fitness West in Wentzville Missouri and was the top trainer in the Midwest region in 2012. At Emerge, they take their time picking out who works for them and how they work. The team at Emerge fitness works hard to make the atmosphere welcoming and special to your person. Them and their environment can help you grow and develop in many different aspects of life.
“I would say [I specialize in] post rehabilitation, so anybody who has had injuries before,” Martin said. “I like to take from their physical therapist, I like to take them into corrective movement after that.”
At Emerge, they have many different trainers specializing in all different types of training styles and techniques, catering to everyone. Martin also tracks his clients progress over time.
“It’s a process and that you don’t want to try and fix everything all at one time, a lot of people will want to come in and try to get on a diet, a workout plan, and see a trainer and it’s just too much all at once, so it’s just a process of one change at a time,” Martin said. “Small changes over a long period of time but it becomes a big result.”
Being trained is a process, but it is worth it, especially if you are completely new to working out because they can show you what you need to do and what is best for you and your ending goals.
“Personally, one thing that I don’t ever compromise is, I always get at least 100 ounces of water a day,” Martin said.
Staying consistent is key to seeing results or even just staying healthy.
“I think culture in a fitness facility is key because you have people that come from all different backgrounds and have different goals so when you have the culture that supports one another and one person’s success is another person’s success because they see each other and thrive off of eachother, I think that cultivates a major following within your gym,” Martin said.
Making a gym fit for everyone is something that Emerge takes their time at. The environment and connections make it worth it.
14-year-old soccer player Hayden Bohannon, who plays for Missouri Rush who has been training at Emerge since Bohannon was 8 with her team, but by herself since she was 13.
“I regularly train with Steffin, he always has conversations with me and asks me about my interests and hobbies and about my day, he always knows what to say,” Bohannon said.
The staff at Emerge make an effort to get to know their customers and have them as their priority.
“We do special workouts for like Valentine’s day, for Thanksgiving we will do a turkey workout, we do an ugly sweater workout for Christmas, and then we hold a couple of our non profits, which is veterans workout and we do people with disabilities, like special education and autism and things like that,” Martin said.
Emerge builds a community from putting on events like these, and it shows how wholesome they are.
“I like getting better, especially with a one-on-one trainer,” Bohannon said. “I feel like I’m actually really improving my strength.”
When it comes to athletes being with a trainer it is very beneficial because they are just focusing on the customer and their skills, and most of them are former athletes or played sports in school so they know what it’s like and know what to do to fit the customer’s needs and help them benefit on their own.
“Being an entrepreneur is definitely the way you want to make it, so your work ethic creates the culture and that’s always the biggest success I’d say for entrepreneurs and small businesses,” Martin said.
