On Friday, Oct. 31, students in Samantha Soltysiak’s seventh-hour Honors Biology class participated in a DNA encoding relay. Working in teams, students decoded, encoded and identified proteins to reveal a secret sentence and win a prize. The activity was part of their Protein Synthesis and Mutations unit. Soltysiak organized the relay on Halloween to break classroom routine. As part of the activity, some students went into the hallway to find specific proteins and report letters back to their teams.
