Cole Bell, Senior who plays Tackle and Defensive Tackle, is stuck between the choice to continue on playing football in college or focus on pre-med. The choice between practical and passion can be hard. Cole Bell is passionate about pursuing a career in the medical field, but that means football might not be an option in college, and Bell knows giving up a sport he’s played his whole life will be difficult. Bell has always had a passion for both football and medicine, but now he faces the decision of whether he’ll be able to pursue playing football on top of the commitment that comes with going pre-med.
“There’s that part of my heart that says I wanna keep playing football and never want to put up those pads, but then there’s also that part of my brain saying pre-medMed is difficult and I should focus on that,” Bell said.
Football has always been a part of Bell’s life, and giving up something so important is never an easy choice, especially for Cole when it comes to football. It’s intertwined with not only his school life but his personal life.
“I grew up watching football with my dad and grandfather,” Bell said. “I remember the first practice I ever had and I just fell in love with it from there.”
While football is very important to Bell it’s not the only thing that he has always been passionate about.
“I’ve grown up with family members in the medical field,” Bell said. “ It’s something that’s always been involved in my life and something I can see myself doing.”
Bell also knows that whatever he decides, his friends and family will support him as they have the whole time. Bell knows he can rely on them and they will be happy with whatever decision he makes.
“No one has been pushing me towards one decision or another and have let me know it’s my choice to make,” Bell said. “ They’ve been helpful in showing me the right way to do things.”
