On Feb. 26, FBLA and FCCLA came together to take members of the clubs to New York for an unforgettable experience. This trip gave students a chance to travel together, explore a big city, and learn more about leadership and career opportunities.
“I have been on this trip four times before, and every time it’s a fun, enjoyable experience,” FCCLA sponsor Marrisa Heyer said.
The group traveled by plane to get to New York, and from there the clubs both explored the city on a large tour bus. Students had the chance to see sights like Times Square, Statue Of Liberty and other well known locations. The students also saw the play “Wicked” on Broadway. This experience helped them bond as clubs, while also learning new things outside the classroom.
“I honestly think everything was a cool experience.” junior Jovie Whitworth said. “If I had to pick one particular thing it’d be touring the Madison Square Garden because I really like sports and hockey and seeing where the Rangers play was a really cool experience.”
The trip was a great opportunity where students grew more comfortable exploring the city and spending time together. Whether they were walking through busy streets, visiting attractions, or talking on the bus rides, the trip created memories that many of them will remember for years. When the students returned, they not only had fun stories to tell but also a stronger connection with their clubs and classmates.
“It’s not everyday that you get an opportunity to come across your school’s field trip to New York,” Whitworth said. “You get to be with your friends and if not you can make new friends, and it was a really good learning experience for both clubs.”
