On April 24, the Michael Jackson musical drama biopic, “Michael,” was released in theaters. The movie features Michael Jackson’s nephew, Jaafar Jackson as the starring character, covering what Michael’s life looked like throughout his time involved with the “Jackson 5” and his solo career. The biopic has sparked many different reactions from students. Some see the movie as cool and a fun way to represent his character again after all these years.
“It’s good to get a film about him out there,” sophomore Barret Nussbaum said. “After all of these years since he’s passed away, being able to still represent him and portray his character is very admirable.”
Though other fans of Jackson believe that it just isn’t possible to replicate the charm and spirit from the once living artist. Michael Jackson lifelong fan, Arianna Dangi has an autobiography of his that she deems more important, she’s read it about 14 times.
“When I think about people replicating Michael Jackson, singing a Michael Jackson song, I think that’s great, that’s awesome,” junior Dangi said. “But when they try to look like him and dress up as him and do a whole performance, I just don’t necessarily love it the most. I feel like a movie is just not super necessary.”
