In March 2026, the CEO of St. Charles City-County Libraries, John Greifzu, asked employees to remove personal belief items from their workspaces. These items include, but are not limited to, LGBTQ+ flags and symbols of religious faiths. The local community worries about the implications this policy will have for the libraries’ overall message.
