The Knights defeated the Timberland Wolves 1-1 in the semi-final round of the Wickenhieser Cup. Timberland scored their goal with one minute left in the second period. FHN's goal was scored by Brycon Johnson with two minutes left in the final period. Combined with their 5-2 victory the night before the tie was enough to push FHN into the next, and final round of the Wickenhieser cup. On Fri Feb 6 STUCO hosted the annual Snowcoming pep assembly. "I had a really good time emceeing, it's one of my favorite things to do. I'm so energized, I love running around and helping everybody get pumped for Snowcoming," said Alex Weinstock, 12. The assembly featured performances from JV and varsity cheer and a hip hop dance by knightline. Along with the performances, there were games including a teacher couple competition, a dance off, and a half court shot competition. The Knights faced the FZS Bulldogs on the ice at the Rec Plex South on Nov 10. North left the rink beat 2-3. FHN scored the first point with 6:49 left in the first period. South came back to score two points in the final three minutes of the period. The Knights scored the only point in the second period with 11:17 remaining. North and South went into the third period tied 2-2. After a fight for the tie breaking goal the Bulldogs scored at 8:07. North was unable to recover in the remaining minutes and lost. Thursday October 23 the Varsity Boys Soccer team took the field for their senior night. Saying goodbye to six of the leaders on their team. Seniors Gabe Grote, Andrew Meyer, Kevin Rudgberg, Andrew Baker, Christian Vasquez, and Ethan Hussy walked across the field high-fiving and hugging their teammates while their fans cheered. "It's awesome, bittersweet but awesome, four years of hard work is finally coming to an end. It's strange really," said Grote. The Knights faced off against the Timberland Wolves in an intense game that left Sophmore Conner Crain injured after the first half. On Sept. 25 the students of FHN gathered in the large gym for the annual homecoming pep assembly. "I think the pep assembly went well, we had a lot of fun doing it, we spent a lot of time planning for it, and I think everybody had a good time," said senior Monica Friedman. The assembly featured performances by JV and Varsity cheerleaders and the JV and Varsity knightline dance team. Varsity knightline's performance featured studline, a group of male students who worked with the girls to create a dance. On Sept 19 and 20 the choir concert gathered in the commons for their annual dinner concert. This year's theme was 'an evening of Broadway and movie musicals'. Songs from shows like Newsies, Chicago, Paint Your Wagon, and Motown were sung. "I think it went pretty well this weekend." Senior Ryan Ehlers said. The show had 21 performances. Two of the performances were by treble and concert choir. The other performances were sung by individual singers or pairs. Alum Bob Strickland and Tori Stepanek emceed the event and also performed. After the seniors the color guard was presented by American Legion Post 312. The National Anthem and Alma Mater were then performed by the seniors of Knightsound. The Graduation Marshall Address was then read by Greg Hennefent. Principal Andrew Downs gave the welcome speech shortly after. The FHN Varsity hockey teams was defeated 1-4 by Central on Feb 11 at the Lindenwood Ice Arena. Central will continue on to the semi-finals of the Whickenheiser Cup. North will end their season with 8-16-3. The Knights started off strong by scoring the first goal of the game and the period. Sophomore Tyler McAtee scored the goal with 1:04 with assists by Adam Dempski and Cody Pingleton. Central scored two goals in the second period to bring them ahead of the Knights. The Spartans followed up their second period success with another two goals in the third period. The theme of the assembly was an Olympics theme because the Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia, begin in 8 days. Games would be played throughout the assembly, and points would be given to the winning class. The class with the most points at the end of the assembly would be named winner.
