In a meeting scheduled for 2:10 in Sociology teacher Mark Olwig’s room, varsity soccer coach Vince Nowak retired from his position as head coach. According to Nowak “It’s time.”
Nowak has been the only head coach for North since the school opened its doors in 1986. In that time, he has built what is now regarded by many as one of the most successful public soccer programs in the St. Louis area.
In his career at North, Nowak’s teams have averaged 17 wins a season, tallying 15 District championships and 11 Conference championships. In his final season, Nowak led the boys to a 17-6-2 record, and a pair of Conference and District titles. He also earned his 400th career win, making him the seventh soccer coach in Missouri to have ever accomplished that feat.
